    • spending $150 for three tickets to a Mother's Day Dinner Show... pricey yes, but it was an opportunity to see a very popular local legend that we all love... a local comedian named Frank Delima...here's a wiki article on him... Frank Delima - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia...
i've never been to see him live, and it's been years since the other two have seen him so this will be a treat for all of us...

we were lucky to get the tickets too... we originally called for brunch tickets (it was only 2-3 days after the article advertising the show came out) but they were sold out (all 300) and there were only 60 out of 300 tickets left for dinner... he's so popular that after he did mother's day there the year before, people called the restaurant to find out when he was coming back...

i also looked on his websites calender and it seems that he's only got two public performance dates planned on the island this year... mothers day and fathers day so i'm pretty happy with our tickets...the mothers day performance has the added benefit of being at a restaurant that my MIL really likes so that is nice as well...

      • I am cooking frozen chicken patties for my dog to eat. It is expensive but she has quit eating dog food.

        • We had our yard sale yesterday. As a result, we didn't really eat breakfast and by about 1:30 we were kind of hungry so we ordered a pizza. I did run over and pick it up rather than have to tip a delivery guy. Later, we were so exhausted from the day that neither of us felt like cooking, so we went to a diner for dinner. So about $12.50 for lunch and $18 for dinner. Of course, we made about $220 on the yard sale so we figured we earned it.

          * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
          * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?

            • I went to the mall to look for a gift -- I didn't find anything, so that unsuccessful trip cost me $4.20 in public transportation costs and approximately $9 in food costs because I ate dinner while I was there.

I hate eating out when it's not a special occasion, I should have thrown some granola bars or crackers into my purse to eat at the mall & then made dinner when I got back home.

                • Well DH got in a little car accident today. Unfortunately he was at fault (he rear-ended another car), but thankfully there was hardly any damage. The bumper on the other car was scratched, but it looked to be pretty superficial and our car really wasn't hurt.

We'll find out the cost of it all in a little while, but the officer thought it would be less than $500 in damage. Plus we're hoping our rates don't go up, but if they do the adjuster thought it would only be about $10 per month.

I know how you feel. We have four nieces and nephews graduating high school this year.

Why would you report the accident to your insurance company if the damage is so minor? Just pay out of pocket.

I wasn't there when the accident happened, so I don't really know how it all played out. I do know, that the car he hit was a new car ('07) and the woman was thinking she had to go to the dealer to get it fixed, which I'm sure would cost more than necessary. If the insurance company talks her into going to a place that is less biased, I think that would be a good thing.

We also didn't call the insurance company...they called us. Turns out she has the same company we do and as we walked through the door DH gets a call from them "so we've heard you been in an accident."

That's lousy. No escaping it now.

It's a little strange when both drivers have the same insurance. When my wife had an accident in 2002, there ended up being a legal case and basically Allstate was suing Allstate.

                          • Where I live there only is one insurance company for your basic auto insurance (it is provincial). Here in BC you can only get it through ICBC. You are ALWAYS in a conflict if there's an accident (of course they want to pay out as little as possible - and they are always the insurer for both sides). You can only get private insurance for the optional things such as collision, etc. if you want to. It sucks. Most of the other provinces have private insurance companies.
