Had spouse buy me some fresh mozarella balls in olive oil with basil and seasonings. Could have made it myself for 1/3 the price and it would have been a lot better. The purchased stuff had less flavorful oil and spices....oh well, next time. Plus, I'll save the oil to cook with, so it's not a total bummer.

Hey, Ima, thank you for doing that. I increasingly believe that the only chance to ever get this world to be any better is by doing good, which makes for an atmosphere for others to want to do good.

Bought 1 lb. of domestic Proscuitto.
          It costs $13/lb.
Of course, it could have been worse. I could have bought the imported Proscuitto for $19/lb.

Yesterday, I bought 3 Superbowl 41 sports towels at 50% off. They came with the grommets and hooks. I paid 2.99 for each of them. They are really nice material and I know that my husband and two grown sons will love them. I'm giving the towel to my husband for Valentines day and I also bought him a beer holder (same thing superbowl memorabilia) shaped like a jersey for his beer.

Bought the pizzas for last night's supper at Save-A-Lot (2 x 2.99) because I was pooped! Normally I use the recipe in Amy D.'s Tightwad Gazette and make my own. Still cheaper than delivery but not all that frugal.

We were out riding around looking at land all afternoon. We got thirsty so we stopped and bought a bottle of bottled water, instead of taking our own from home.

I had three ladies over to play bridge. They all keep their houses at 72, so I ran my heat at 67 all day long and sweated!!

Today, I applied for a passport for my son who is going out of the country soon. I had to expedite it since his trip is coming up soon and we wasn't sure if he'd need one or not, but with the new laws we found out he did!! Anyways, it cost me a whopping $171.00!!!!! GEEESSS!! That was not budgeted in for this month!! I guess it's back to eating rice and beans for a few weeks, LOL!

bummer about the passport. i've been there: had 2 weeks notice when i had ot go to argentina for work, and no passport. bluh!

as for the beans and rice, well yuuuummmm!!!

red beans and rice with smoked sausage (cajun)
black beans and rice with grilled chicken and salsa (mexican)
pintos, rice, corn, gorund beef, and tomatoes for succatash (native american)
lentils and rice boil chicken stock for pilaf (italian)
add everything together with more chicken stock for soup at the end of the week...

that's the great part about beans and rice: you can do anything with them!

                            • Today, I went to Walmart. I always spend at least $100 when I am there. Today was no different, my bill was $112! I think they hypnotize you when you walk in the door!
