I found an excellent deal. Refurbished printer ink cartridges. They are used ink cartridges that are refilled with ink instead of thrown away. We bought these a couple months ago and they work fantastic thus far. Normally, ink for our printer is over $50 for both the black and color ink together. We got them for $12.14. Went through amazon, sold by "print outlets", free shipping if you buy over $25 total from amazon. We are for sure going to buy our ink from here from now on.

There is a kiosk in the Northgate Mall (here in Seattle) that sells ink that way - or there was one there that last time I went. Walgreens's larger pharmacies have re-inking machines - you bring in your empty cartridge and they refill it for you.I YQ YQ R

I'm always hesitant to try this. I think for regular everyday printing like text it would be fine but I worry that color printing, especially photos, the ink wouldn't be comparable. What has everyone's experience been?Steve

I have printed pictures with 'refurbished' ink refills with no problem. I do currently have a color ink cartridge that keeps giving me errors. It will work some of the time, but not consistently. That is frustrating. Otherwise, I've purchased numerous refurbished ink cartridges from different sources with no issues. My other blog is Your Organized Friend.

I have an HP printer and have found the savings to be substantial.

We have had issues with using the refilled cartridges from Cartridge World. Had two or three bad ones in a row and gave up. (For an Epson Stylus)
However, we have had success using the cheap ones from Amazon. At $8-12 for a set of six to seven, it would be crazy NOT to try it. Our last batch- we had issues with one fitting, but just had to snap off an extra plastic piece. Another didn't print properly, but complained on Amazon and was promptly credited for it (even though it had been close to a year since ordering!). Granted, the credit was small, but everything helps!

Check out refillbay.com they have top notch refill kits. For $15 you can get a kit that will fill the xl cartridges more than 5 times. It's a similar price for color kits to. I've used other kits before and the ones from refillbay.com are the best I've used. Plus there are always coupon codes available, usually for 15% off.

If you want to save money in the long run, buy a color or B&W laser printer. The toner lasts WAY longer than crappy ink cartridges that dry out and / or clog regularly. I would suggest Dells relatively new line of LED printers. Photos look great, text prints are excellent, and they print pages at a time as opposed to line by line. Pretty much better in every way IMO.
