It's a great book. Sure.

Hey there Aleta, nice to see you. Yes, it has been a long time. Still a civil servant on the North Coast. Bought a house; the right house, at the right time. That was part of why re-reading Amy Dacyzyn seemed like a good idea; I'd be looking at some articles with a different eye. I was caulking the other day in the bathroom-not something renter me would have done. Might blog again; still love the sense of freedom and fulfillment that frugality can bring.

lrjohnson: It would be great seeing how your life has changed as a homeowner compared to how you looked at renting. Glad that you were able to get a good deal on a home. YES, I can read a book and come back 10, 20, or 30 years later and gleam different insights from the same book.

Milk Powder
Hi All,
We have been using milk powder for many years. If you make it up the night before and leave in fridge it tastes better.
Also for swapping full fat for skin milk powder, add a small pinch of salt enhances the taste.
Son is section manger of the factory here in Tasmania who makes the dry milk powder.

REF - Rereading The Tightwads Gazette
Well it's years since I have been on this thread, I have started again to read this book all 960 pages of it.
I hope to review it in the NOW. As it's 30 years has gone by since the first gazette was posted.
With Covid 19 around and many people not working around the world, some of Amy's Wisdom is needed now!
So if you still own a copy or can get your hands on a copy to read a long with me. Thank will great.

I don't know if I mentioned this earlier in the thread but Amy actually published a few of my suggestions in the newsletter. I was very excited when that happened.Steve

I'm trying to do this out of interest as a lot of modern tech now days.
That we need to think about and include, a lot has changed and no longer apply in this modern times then you have 'climate change' to take into mix as well.

Even at the time, I thought a lot of her ideas were a bit extreme (dryer lint paper mache comes to mind) but I liked her overall approach to really being mindful of everything you do and trying to see if there was a way to do it cheaper, be less wasteful, etc. To this day, we still tear our dryer sheets in 1/2 or 1/3, for example.Steve
