  • You know you are frugal when...

It's hot here and I'm inside trying to think of cool activities...I thought maybe we could have a thread where we answer the line, "You know you are frugal when..."

    So, here's mine:

You know you are frugal when you get more excited going to the library to check out materials than going to the mall.

I'll be using the library more often soon. The end of the school year is fast approaching and with no income for the summer, but many big bills to pay (tuition, insurance, mortgage, etc.)I'll just have to look for alternatives.

Surprised this thread isn't pages long, ha-ha. You KNOW you're frugal when you realize you're doing fine without a car and don't really want one even when you can now pay cash for one. (Or maybe that's just weird, huh?)

Could be because topics like this have been done numerous times in the past? It's always fun of course, but I dunno. For what it's worth, here's my contribution.

You brag about your phone bill being in the single digits.

You grill your electric company about the increase in kilowatts per hour.

        You recycle gray water.

I bragged when I spent $10 dollar or less a day.

When you freeze several small bags of water to make ice for the fishing cooler. Ice is $5 a bag here! Always had a problem paying for frozen water ,or bottled water, for that matter.

When you brag that you got your entire outfit at the thrift store.

When you squeeze or scrape out the last of every tube or jar. (Or maybe I'm just not wasteful)

When you buy a hotdog at Costco and return the paper wrapper to the counter to be reused and don't even think about it.
