It's not easy with small children at home. Every friend I knew doing it had to send their kids to daycare, even a nanny was too distracting. No way can you work from home and care for kids full time while trying to "work" from home.

I agree with you! Those things are very common when you are working at the office. And in addition to that, some colleagues would even call you at the fone to discuss unimportant things, lol.

Working at home is a bad idea at all but if you need it try do not turn on TV and make some breaks.

I did all my hospice home visits and then went home to electronically chart. Kids were still in school. I could accomplish in 2 hrs what took me 3-4 in a crazily cramped office, that was beyond noisy and we didn't see each other every day so there was socializing. You had to shout to make yourself heard on the phone it was so crowded. I am not nearly as efficient in that environment. I loved working from home.

I have the option to work from home sparingly, but I don't very often. My job requires that I be at work to truly accomplish anything, so while working at home does allow me to do computer work, a lot of the rest of my job will suffer and set me back.

It is distracting to be at home too. It's hard for me to sit in front of a computer when the grass needs cut, the ceiling fan needs fixed, the oil in my truck needs changed, etc, etc,......................

My husband works from home 3 days per week right now. He was in the office 5 days per week.

He has an office in the basement, but he does have the TV or music on in the background.

He says he gets MORE done at home since there are fewer distractions.

He also saves 2.5 hours per day by not commuting, not taking a full hour for lunch, etc....

                  Work from Home

According to me its a waste of time as you cant give 100 percent while you are working. There is always a distraction and people take you for granted and do not respect your time. So for me work away from home is the best option.

How do you work from home?

I have not tried it yet but I wanted. But, I have lots of friends who are married and have their home based jobs. According to them, It is really a good experience being at home and still earning and learning at the same time.

Currently, I am not working from home. But earlier I worked from home. I had a separate room for my work. I used listen music at the time of working.

Working at home and making money is a special effort. If you are expert in any field and you can work at home then you can make good money sitting at home.

I'm trying to earn from home using some websites. Sometimes I really get useful cash.

I work from home. Half the time I never get dressed in real clothes, usually only if I have to run an errand into town, but then dressing and undressing depending on how I feel that day can be a real bother especially since I also have to take long naps which means taking off the real clothes. At times my husband has to help me out of some pullover tops so staying in a nighty works just fine . No job that I know of lets you take the kind of naps I do!

I read a study once that due to distractions, coffee/smoke breaks, chatting with co-workers, etc. most office workers only actually spend about 5.5 hours a day working even though getting paid for 8 hours. I worked at a job once that bore that out. So I figure that if I can put in 5.5 hours during the day, I'm doing good and basically working full time. Some days other than shipping out sales, I'm not feeling well enough to do anything else so my work flucuates. The next day if I'm feeling better I will try to work longer. I don't watch TV, rarely listen to music, etc. I've been doing this for a long time but if I had to drive to a job and work even for 4 hours and then drive home I couldn't deal with it. I would be exhausted, in pain and missing work all the time.

Not everyone is geared to work from home while others love it. Neither is right or wrong. For a good 20 years before I did this, I read everything I could get my hands on about working from home. It took the internet and a few other things for it all to fall into place for me. I hated having to get up and in the winter wondering if I would have to be chipping ice off the car or digging it and the driveway out, or driving during a blizzard, etc. Now I don't have to even think about that and when I get up and go to work (downstairs) and see a blizzard going full force, I just keep saying thank you!

Ugh. Indeed, there are too many distractions at home.
