All it requires is four ingredients, and the result tastes as good as the kind you buy in the store, only you spare yourself the preservatives that go with commercial varieties.
Chocolate Ice Cream
Ingredients
2 cups of heavy whipping cream
1 (12 ounce) can of sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Directions
1. Stir together sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder and vanilla in a medium bowl. Set it aside.
2. In the bowl of your mixer, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form (but do not overbeat it.) You can also use an electric mixer to whip up the heavy cream if you don’t have a stand mixer.
3. Fold the sweetened milk mixture into the whipped cream. Pour into a two-quart container, cover and freeze for at least six hours — overnight’s even better.
4. Before you serve it, defrost for about 15 minutes to soften the ice cream. Then scoop it and serve it.
Quick tip: For a healthier version of this recipe, you can substitute the heavy whipping cream with Greek yogurt.
