You have a lot of different options available to you when you want to ship something. Of course, there’s the good old post office. Despite its recent issues and controversies, the USPS has always been a steady choice for shipping. But you may find that you want to use another option, such as UPS. The UPS store hours differ slightly from USPS, which can be helpful at times. As we approach the holidays, it’s helpful to know more about all of your shipping options.
Why Choose UPS?
There are several reasons that you might choose UPS over another shipping option such as USPS or FedEx. Here are some of the most common reasons:
- There’s a convenient UPS location near your home or work.
- Your office requires you to ship through UPS.
- The UPS hours are most convenient for you.
- You need additional services such as printing, faxing, packaging, etc.
- There’s less of a line/ wait at your UPS than USPS.
- You need to ship something back through Amazon and UPS offers free package-less returns.
- You have a mailbox through UPS.

UPS Store Hours
Of course, if you’re doing shipping through UPS, then you need to know when they are open. UPS store hours can vary significantly by location. Therefore, your best bet is to use the UPS store locator to find the store closest to you, then check the hours listed on the website.
That said, here are some generalities that often apply to many UPS locations:
UPS Weekday Store Hours
Generally speaking, UPS stores are open on weekdays. Many stores open up at 8:30 in the morning. They usually close at about 7 pm.
Some locations open up as early as 6:30 in the morning. Some locations stay open as late as 9 pm. Therefore, if you need to ship something early or late in the day, it’s worth checking local UPS store hours near your.
UPS Weekend Store Hours
UPS stores are generally open on Saturdays but closed on Sundays. Saturday store hours are typically 9 am – 3 pm. Again, this varies by location. However, if you need to ship something via UPS on weekends, you should aim for Saturdays between 9 and 3.
Make an Appointment for UPS Services
Many people use UPS to access a variety of services beyond simply mailing packages. For some of those services, it’s best to make an appointment.
For example, make an appointment at UPS if you want to:
- Get assistance with a big printing job.
- Use their notary services.
- Shred documents.
- Set up a new mailbox at UPS.
- Get fingerprinted.
To make an appointment, go to the UPS store locator linked above. Find your local store on the map. Click on “schedule appointment” for that store. A new tab will open providing you with appointment options. Alternatively, the store locator also has the store’s phone number, so you could call and make an appointment.
UPS Holiday Hours
Of course, many people do a lot of shipping during the holidays. Therefore, it’s important to know UPS store hours for all of the holidays of the year.
All UPS stores are closed on the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
