  • PT Jobs that'll work with a 9-5?

    Hello everyone!

Currently I'm trying to pay off some debts and I know the holidays are a great time to get a part-time job.

However I also work a 9-5 and one thing I noticed is not a lot of places are able to work around that schedule. I want something that'd allow me to work weekends and some (not every) day after work.

Reason being is because I'm not trying to wear myself out with multiple jobs, I've done it before. The money was good but my health, mentally and physically wasn't.

So my question is what type of PT jobs are 9-5 friendly? They can be odd jobs or retail? Where would be the best place to look for them? Also have you had any luck with have a PT job with a FT one as well? If so where was it?

Thank you all for your help!

It helps to prepare a list of skills and experiences. What services can you offer?
I see shocking hourly rates for house cleaners. I wonder if clients would be ok having their home dusted, vacuumed, tidied, bthrm scrubbed and kitchen shined in the evening.
Are you creative? Can you create fun Halloween, yard scenes? Make up a bunch of flyers and deliver them around your nearest, middles class neighbourhood.
Do you mind climbing ladders to decorate homes for Christmas?
Do you like walking dogs? If you can do Saturday dog training the guys that run classes at the dog walking park are getting healthier with all the running required but fattening bank accounts. Take a course and learn to groom dogs. Tons of people do this in their homes, they charge $ 60. and up depending on breed.
Do you like to work outside. Look at older areas in your community with senior owners who need help converting from summer/fall to yard work for winter.
Write a brief resume, highlight any retail experience, get up early and visit shift type places...service stations, convenience stores.
After work, dress in waiter garb and drop off carefully targeted resumes at local restaurants where people likely tip. Ask for PT work, even kitchen staff or bussing to begin. Timing is all, not when patrons have begun to arrive for 1st sitting.

Delivering pizzas or some other type of food.
      Driving for Uber/Lyft.
Retail maybe if you can find a place that will work around your hours.

Do you have any skills that you can monetize? A hobby or service that you can provide? Those sorts of things are much easier to do on your own schedule. For example, is there a subject that you are qualified to tutor? Around here, tutors get $60/hr and that's something you can easily do in the evenings or on weekends.

Retail at holiday usually does. When I did it in college they need night workers every night and weekend to just clean the store for 2-3 hours after because of the mess of shoppers. Folding clothes, picking up, inventory, etc. So it was super easy to pick up at 6 pm to 12 am shift during the holidays. Although you are bit late to be hired right now. Usually they hire around August in prep for the holidays. Maybe someone else with more recent experience can weigh in.

Also servers for the dinner rush usually can work weekends and nights.

Check out flex.amazon.com. You deliver for Amazon earning $18-$25/hour. Catch is that there are limited locations. Check the site to see where they are.

I saw a driver doing this one evening in my neighborhood, using their own car.

Pretty much every part time job that I can think of is 9-5 friendly. Every business in retail or the service industry is always looking for evening and weekend help.

I worked a part-time job in retail for years and it never interfered with my 9 to 5 job. I worked the evening shift a few nights a week, as others said there will always be demand for that.
