  • stay at home mom - jobs at home?

    Hello,

Is there any jobs that I could do at home while taking care of my child? I am in the situation that I can't go to work so I was thinking maybe I would ask online about some good jobs.

    Thank you,

Check out this article from Clark Howard. He lists jobs that are believed to be legitimate. If by "good" you mean making a lot of money, you may not find it in Clark's article, probably because high-paying work-from-home jobs are rare to non-existent. Proceed with caution. There are lots of scams out there.

Learn to do traditional things yourself rather than spending money for them. Some of this assumes you have a house with a yard, but things that come to mind include:
*Raise a garden and shop farmers markets for better quality foods and produce.
*Can & freeze meats, veggies and produce.
*Cook from scratch, do own baking, etc.
*Laundry on the line instead of dryer.
*Take care of your own lawn.
*Do minor painting and remodeling projects.
*Wash your own car rather than drive thru.

It takes a pretty decent paying job to cover the expenses of child care, commuting, work clothing, etc. and still come out ahead. Plus, having one stay home to raise the kid(s) is much better for the children, and can lead to a much better overall quality of home life.

Do you have a hobby that you are particularly good at? Crocheting, Knitting, woodworking, and etc? Put your talent to work and open an etsy store or start your own online store. Many things you could do if you put your mind to it.

For example, I like to build things. My wife's school does an auction where each classroom contributes an item. I built a wooden planter bench for $60 and it sold for $150. So can your hobby make you money? You won't know till you try.

Adding to the CherryWong post, I can say that if you are interested in binary options, you can try and study it from educational materials and using free demo account - This broker provides demo even without depositing.

You can always make money, but the trick is to figure out what you A) can do from home and B) what do you WANT to do from home.

Working takes time away from your family. And if you're an SAHM, you're likely doing it because you want to be there for your kids. So before going down the work-at-home road, ask yourself WHY you want to work.

The answers can be put into one of two categories:

                    1) Financial need

                    2) Personal need

If it's financial, is it at a critical level? Do you need to make as much as possible immediately? Or is it a general desire to add to the family bank account to help level up your living standards? If it's crucial that you work, grab a calculator and start plugging in numbers -- you may be better off paying for childcare and working out of the house.

If you're looking to make a few extra dollars to help pay for guitar lessons for the kids or pay off your car loan, you have a lot more freedom in what you choose to do with your time.

Start a blog? I have a friend who easily earns 1K extra a month through advertising on her site. Check out Mom 2.0 for more blogging ideas.

Are you crafty? What about starting an Etsy store? There are loads of Etsy success stories -- why not you?

My favorite idea is coming up with a solution for other local moms... what are their pain points and how can you help? I can promise you we moms have a lot of pain points (laundry, cooking, cleaning, shuttling kids about, lunches, homework, etc...)

There are a lot of other ideas people have listed here on Quora or you can google it.

If your desire to work from home falls into the Personal category, then you're in luck. That's the easiest one to fulfill because it might not actually be a job you want. It's possible that what you really need is to feel like you are more than a mom (because you are). Start asking yourself why you want to work, and see where it takes you. Don't stop until you get to the heart of your desire... each time you ask and answer a question, ask "why" again and again.

It's likely that simply devoting time to yourself will satisfy your need to work because many times once we become a mom it consumes us, and we lose our sense of self. We want to feel alive again. Important again. Excited again. Like someone again. Not just someone’s mom. It's about finding your life balance. How can you give to yourself while giving to others?

The good news is there are ways of becoming more of who you are without giving up being there for your family. Start by looking at who you were and what you were doing before you had kids. What made you feel alive and joyful? What about before you got married? How did you spend your free time?

Take that list and connect it with your life today. How can you incorporate those exact or similar activities into your life now? Start small by doing one thing for yourself each day for a month and then add a new one until you begin to feel whole again. Make rituals for yourself just like you do for your family. Soon you will find your life balance.

It's possible that work IS what you're missing. If this is the case, as it is for me, discovering what makes you happy is an exciting journey. You don't have the pressure of having to work -- you're doing it because you want to. That's a gift. Enjoy it!

                      Hey blondechick22!

There is multiple ways to make money online.

                      My favorite is Affiliate Marketing.

                      Why?
                      • It’s easy to get started.
                      • It doesn’t cost much money to start.
                      • You can do it from everywhere – as long as you have an internet connection and a computer.
                      • You don’t handle any physical product

With affiliate marketing you promote other people’s products and earns commissions when someone buys a product.

                      Here’s how to get started:
                      1) Find a niche. Are you passionate about something? For example Dogs/kids/yoga.
                      2) Find out if you can profit from it online. Go to Amazon.com and do a search. If you can find books/newspapers on the topic, you probably can make money from it online.
                      3) Go to ClickBank.com (One of the biggest affiliate marketplace) to find out if there is products in that niche. You can also check OfferVault.com.
                      4) Get an autoresponder. I recommend Sendlane for a newbie. It’s easy to start even without a website. You can also choose Getresponse, Aweber, MailChimp etc.
                      5) Offer a free valuable gift in return for peoples email address, for example, a FREE eBook report on how to train dogs, best 10 yoga poses, etc. If you don’t know how to write one, get a PLR. PLR is a product you buy reselling rights for, for example an ebook or a report or even video. You can even put your own name on it to make it yours. Not expensive at all.
                      6) Build a landing page so you can display the book and the subscriber can opt in to receive the book. This is really easy with SendLane.
                      7) Create a series of emails to go out on regular basis with more valuable content mixed with affiliate offers.
                      8) Help people with their problems and link them to your landing page.

                      Good luck!
