Has anyone made money selling their Ebooks or other Ebooks on EBay or other places? I've thought about writing some Ebooks on Family Personal Finance but just haven't read enough about it and if it's profitable at all.

The bad thing with writing an ebook is that the market is flooded with them on virtually every topic. For readers of ebooks, its hard to determine who knows what the heck they are talking about and who is just some Joe Blow with too much time on their hands. If you had a popular blog and gained a little following, that would probably be the best way to ensure some sales for an ebook. If you put all that time into writing a well-thought out ebook, you want to make sure you can make some sales.

maybe you can join some forums, and check what people are talking, give some advices, and then decide whether to write it. sell ebook on ebay is not an easy job any more if you do not have a big subscription list. find people who will buy your ebook first.

I'd say that Google's keywords tool is a good place to see what's of interest. Get ideas based on monthly search volumes, and then open a Twitter account, start blogging like crazy and post your article links on Twitter. In time, you'll have enough material from your blog articles to compile an ebook and (hopefully) an army of potential clients.

I don't agree with this...Originally posted by Debt Vigilante View PostThe bad thing with writing an ebook is that the market is flooded with them on virtually every topic. The market isnt flooded as there will always be a need for information. Traffic willing to buy an ebook on a specific topic is everywhere to.
I have sold ebooks online for years now and it's a great business. In the end it's all about the information give online. If you're giving great information and getting that information in front of people who would find use in your ebook then you'll make money. There is still so much opportunity to make money selling ebooks online that I encourage you to keep investigating. A great place to find out what else is selling online is clickbank.com.
Focus first of all on who you'll sell the book to,
How you'll sell the book,
Then what marketing methods you'll use to get sales.
You will have to learn alot and it is not an easy process but if you can learn what you need to know then take action it can be very rewarding...Good Luck!

I'd say that you've got good chances if you are an expert in your field. The internet is flooded with very good information thanks to Twitter, Reddit, Digg, etc. An idea would be to just combine existing information from several sources (think Wolfram Alpha) and create something of value out of it.

The answer to the question is that it largely depends on your degree of expertise on the subjects you want to write about and whether or not your expertise and personal experience will enable you to bring something unique and interesting to the table. If the answer is yes, then you can be successful marketing ebooks on the Internet. I wouldn't necessarily go the eBay route though. Internet marketing would probably serve you better as has already been mentioned.
I'd also say that If you are sufficiently expert, unique and interesting you should not stop at ebooks. You should self publish. Though this does require a cash investment, having a physical book to offer increases your credibility and your ebook sales.

If you're going to write a book, why not start a blog and write it one article at a time. It would probably be more manageable while offering you the opportunity to begin building a following. Also, you could probably work on refining your message on each section along the way based upon the comments you receive, etc. Just a thought..

Doesn't publishing everything for free on a blog defeat the purpose of writing something and selling it for money?Originally posted by buildmybudget View PostIf you're going to write a book, why not start a blog and write it one article at a time. Check out Steve Scott who is writing kindle books and get them promoted on Amazon. He is making money with them. The kindle market has really opened it for independent writers.
