What do you mean " good job " ? you know it's not easy for people to find a good job , unless he has good education with ability , i would like to say no matter what job you are engaging in , did it well , then maybe you can earn more money by working hard .
So you prefer everyone who does have a job to pay for you?
I think what this person means (about the unemployment) is that why should they take the $8 an hour job when this means they will lose their unemployment, and make less!, and they will also not be available to take interviews and apply for the job they are really qualified for and replace the one they lost for reasons that was not their fault. I agree with them. I was on unemployment, I was not able to find a job during that time. But I will be honest, I didn't look at mcdonalds. I am over 40 and have college and unless I wanted to go into management at mcdonalds, I don't want to work there. It is in my opinion for the kids. It is where I worked when I was in my early 20's and didn't have an education. Now, I am educated and have lots of experience. I want a job that pays decent and offers more than "do you want a shake with that". I have no problem with anyone that works there but it is not for me. I would go crazy there.
I am surprised that nobody has thought of this here before!! The best way to earn money is to go out and get yourself a good job. Is it that hard to do?
Pretty condescending attitude. FYI there are some areas of the country where it is hard to do.
I'd need to earn about $14/hr for it to make financial sense for me to work rather than receive unemployment and continue searching for a "career".

While I understand the arithmetic there IS a problem here. I know of one individual who lived on unemployment for two years and never "found a job." Then, when his benefits were about to expire and not get renewed, he just happened to "find a job."
I think the system is broken. Full unemployment benefits should last only a few months. Extensions should come at the equivalent of minimum wage and not a penny more. Harsh? yes. However, it sure would make that $8 an hour job seem more attractive. Outside of the few zones in the country where the number of unemployed exceed the number of available jobs, we'd see a lot more people going to work.

I agree, the WHOLE system is broken. I cannot get a job in human resources. why? because I don't have a bachelors degree. I have years of experience with this type of work but because my title wasn't "human resources" it doesn't count. I can however, get a job working a lawyers office doing everything from answering the phone, to typing documents to even making certain everything is ready for proper filing with court. The pay? minimum wage. that is crap! I lost a job paying $15 an hour because the economy tanked. I don't mind a pay cut but 1/2? that is also unfair. I just want to make a fair wage for work that I am qualified to do. I did not go to college to work minimum wage. If I did then all that time is wasted. When all the areas are fixed things will get better, until then I don't know what to say. I am personally trying to work from home. We came into a little bit of money last spring and used it to invest in a couple of projects. We are hoping this will be the springboard that sets our financially secure life in motion. It is still hard and scary though!
Well of course we already have thought of getting a job to earn money. However, what I want to know is, are there any ways in which I can earn a large amount of money, aside from looking for a job?
