  • Sell My Hair: Ways to make money

There are markets for virtually everything these days and one of those markets is for hair. Most hair sells for between $300 and $900, but if you have long, beautiful hair that is the right color and fullness, it could be worth more than $2000 on the open market.

Most hair is used for making wigs, hair extensions and sometimes used in artwork. The general rule is that the longer the hair, the more it's worth. You can find out more about what type of hair is selling and what yours may be worth at The Hair Trader

I once stumbled upon a website for the selling of hair. They provided multiple pictures, usually with the hair still attached to their head. They described how they took care of their hair. Some of them took extraordinary care of their very, very long hair, making it clear they were growing it for the purpose of selling it. Some made $3000 or more!...The website kind of creeped me out, though.

They pay that much...incredible! I wonder though if it means all the hair on your head and you would have to go bald...and in essence need a wig yourself.

No, they don't take ALL the hair off your head. Depending on where you want it cut, that is what they take. I've have a couple friends do that so others with cancer can have wigs made for them. I find nothing wrong or creepy about it. I've kept my hair short during my military service and for 15 yrs afterwards. I'm just now growing it out to see how I would look with it long. So, if I don't like it, this is what I'll do. I'd just as soon get paid for it than have to pay to have it cut!

One of my friend is donating her hair but has been told it has to be 10 inches. so I would say that takes time! I couldn't do it because I can't stand my hair that long. I just cut 4 inches off and feel so much better!

Does not seem like a very good recurring income unless you grow hair like a yeti

I read recently that hair extensions have become valuable enough that there is now a black market trade in them: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/0...Small+Business

I would probably place great value on hair if I couldn't have it naturally.

Just donated my daughters hair to locks for love. 12" of perfect hair and she was so excited.
