I don't know that it's a case of a few people spoiling it for others. I just don't think that's the business model or what the system is designed for. It isn't for somebody to see the new Avengers movie 30 times in 30 days. It's to drive people to see more movies, particularly ones that might not get as much attention like smaller independent films. They don't need MoviePass to sell tickets to Marvel or Star Wars or other blockbusters. It's the artsy films that people might not want to take a chance on for $10 or more each but they might go see when it's costing them next to nothing.Originally posted by msomnipotent View PostIt would be a bit of an issue for us. She goes to see a movie with one group of friends and then another group wants to see it later, or we want to see it with her and she has already seen it. Of course we would just tell her that she has to make a choice or pay for the second movie out of her own money, but it sucks that a few bad apples have to ruin it for everyone.Steve

I read that the rules were changed because some people were selling the tickets as a side hustle. Now some people have to send in pictures of their tickets or their account gets canceled. This is why we can't have nice things!Originally posted by disneysteve View PostI don't know that it's a case of a few people spoiling it for others. I've seen 4 movies already. Granted, I can do this because I do not work. I took my very ill mother who hadn't been to a movie in at least 4 yrs to one in the mall theater, Book Club, easiest to do because she is wheelchair bound and the mall is handicapped accessible. But she said the movie lacked substance, was way too loud and the handicapped seating was too close to the screen. I'm taking her to the indie theater tomorrow. It's downtown, only has two handicapped parking spots on the street, if not I have to park in the lot and push her up a big hill, not sure I am well enough to do that. But they don't have an expensive, blow your ears out sound system and no handicapped seating, so she can sit wherever she likes. I'm taking her to a movie about the Pope, I think she will like that. If she successfully goes to 2 movies in two weeks, she will get a MoviePass, too. But she doesn't have a smartphone so we'll have to use my dad's.
I fell twice at the indie theater but so few people were there that no one saw me. I am afraid they will kick me out if I fall there all the time. I have to be super careful. I LOVE MoviePass. Zero problems and I love seeing all the independent films. Next up, RBG.
At first I was buying small popcorns at the indie theater because they use real butter and it's so good but I am on a diet so I shopped for appropriate snacks and cans of diet soda. Plus, popcorn is $6. The ticket guy saw my turkey sandwich today and said, "no worries, we're really lax about people bringing food in," so that was a relief.

This is one of several reasons I don't typically enjoy going to the movies. Apparently, if your seat isn't vibrating and you don't leave with a splitting headache, the theater hasn't accomplished their goal.Originally posted by FLA View Postway too loud
Of course, I also can't stand people who talk through the entire film or can't stand to turn their phone off for 2 hours and must text or check Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/Snapchat/etc. every few minutes throughout the show - with their phone at full brightness of course.
We have a very small TV at home but I'd still much rather watch a movie there. And even if it isn't on Netflix, I'm happy to spend the occasional $5.99 for the 2 of us to watch something On Demand. That doesn't buy one ticket to the theater.Steve

yeah, I don't even like when my father turns on the sound system at home. I am happy with the crappy little tv speaker. same with the crappy little sound system at my indie theater. My movie buddy can't stand movies there, he likes big action movies with all the noise. Probably why we haven;'t been movie buddies in a good long time.
