I thought I'd share this information of our household budget for 2017. We try to adhere to not spend more than we make. I think we came pretty close.
Here's the summary:
POST TAX INCOME RECEIVED 2017 $111,065.23
TOTAL SPENDING 2017 $111,855.00
$(789.77)
I think the best explanation that I can come up why we are off -$789.77 when we prepaid the Gas & Electric last summer for $700 using our new CITI card for the purpose of trying to meet the spending requirement. Maybe it's something else. That's my best non-accountant explanation. I'm not really sure
The total income includes tax refunds, reimbursements, salary, OTs, dividends, interest, and bonuses.
Total Spending includes other all household expenses; mortgage payments, groceries, auto-related, babysitting, home renovation/new water filtered system, vacation trips, gifts, x-mas, credit card payments, it also include extra-mortgage payments, 529 contributions, taxable investment, and auto transfer to savings from checking.
BTW. We use spreadsheet to track our monthly budget and also use MINT and Personal Capital to track all our expenses.
