B of A took the money out when they sent the check. The checks weren't received. I had a lot of people look and tell me well the money is gone, when I asked to see a copy of the check cashing signature they then realized it wasn't cashed.

So then came the question came it's an e-check? Yes it's a real check cut by bank and mailed. It is not an electronic payment.

Yes I do electronic payments to CC, utilties, etc. But this is different. These were payments to people I would have cut a check to.

I'm pretty sure what would have happened is that if in three months or so, the check hadn't been cashed, they would have credited your account with the funds from the uncashed check. That is what Wells does. You would have never known if someone hadn't complained until you got the notice that you received a credit.

I write two checks a month at the most and that is it. Both to my cleaner. I even pay my dad by bill pay when he goes to Costco for me and I need to reimburse him. I'd pay my cleaner by bill pay if it was more of a regular thing.

Yes, I use that service all the time. My CU doesn't deduct from my account until cleared. I've paid daycare provider this way (10 years ago), our lawn guy, and music teachers over the years. Plus anyone I owe any money too. I am far too lazy to actually write a real check, when I Can just type a number into the computer and press "send".

I actually just sent my SIL $10 a few weeks ago for some school fundraiser raffle tickets. She forgot to buy the raffle tickets so she handed me the check back the last time I saw her. I shredded it. The End. There's such a huge convenience factor that I would switch financial institutions if they started that "deducting up front" nonsense. I am not capable of dealing with "not knowing if anyone cashed their checks or not." That is totally ridiculous.
