A lot of homeowners insurance policies have electronic replacement baked in, so be sure to check that. I think ours had a small upcharge for something like $8 a year to replace broken or lost cell phones or other electronics.

Probably the best overall policy that has worked for us is: buy used cell phones, go no contract, avoid the bundle bait.

I buy my phones outright as well. My goal on each one is keep for 3 years minimum, or until it fails. I'd rather keep that money towards my next upgrade.

The insurance is a waste IMO. I understand that accidents happen with higher usage, etc. I have mechanic friends who continue to break theirs even with all the fancy cases, based on their work environment.

But the majority of users I know who break theirs are friends and family who admit to being more careless. I feel if they didn't have the insurance they'd more more considerate of how they treat their electronics and not take them for granted.
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

        Cell phone insurance

Years ago I had insurancewith Verizon that was expensive and essentially useless because the deductible is cost prohibitive.
