  • Whoa, Hit A Milestone Today: 1 Million In Our Retirement Account!

I was doing some calculations and the market is just that strong. Our retirement account consist of 80% Total Stock market Index Fund in our 401k account and 20% in our Roth account mainly consist of individual stocks like those high flyers such as AMD/Tesla/Fvrr. Didn't think we can hit a mil in our retirement before 40 but I guess when you have the strongest bull market in history, you can.

It's split among like 6 different accounts so it's hard to produce a screenshot.

                      That's awesome, congrats!

The goal I've been targeting for the last couple years is to have $1M across all of our retirement accounts by Dec'22. We're currently sitting around $785k, so we're closing in, but that timeline likely won't be possible. So I'll have to push it out until Dec'23. But really, there's no rush... We're only 35, I'm not retiring for at least 7 years, and the goal's timeline is arbitrary.

We're 38/37 so we're similar in age. I used to have a goal of $1M by 40. Now im hoping we hit $2M by 40, across all accounts, not just retirement. If the market does anything but go backwards, it shouldnt be an issue. Time will tell.

So we passed $1M in retirement in 1/3/2020. 8/30/2021 we are at $1.6M retirement accounts. We contributed to retirement $19.5k 2020, 2021, $12k Roth IRA and $12k Roth IRA and $25k after tax contributions to 401k rolled to roth so $88k contributed and the rest gains. Maybe next year without contributions I'd like to hit $1m in DH's old 401k. We don't contribute to it anymore after February 2021.

                          LAL - 1/2020 - $147k . 9/2021 - $191k
                          Mr LAL 1/2020 - $347k . 9/2021 - $523k
                          401k - 1/2020 - $542k . 9/2021 - $817k
