  • Here's where i stand now

    Hey all,

I've been in a financial rut my whole life but finally I've made some strides in the last few years, not much but getting better.

    Here's where I am now:

    Age: early 40s
    4 kids
    monthly net: 6k
    225k in pension, contribute 10%, match 15%
cash: 10k. i must be cursed, i can never save more than this!
    2 cars paid off.
    100k in life insurance.
100k equity in home (owe 100k, worth 200k)
    0 credit card debt

    monthly payments:
    mortgage, inc. tax, ins: 1800
    monthly parking: 150
    utils: 350
    other expenses fixed: 300
    food, gas, etc: 1000

so end of month i am now having 2400 left in disposable income. this is after years of paying debt. i plan to put 1500 into savings every month starting next week. 900 left to do whatever, may invest in stock market.

just thankful to finally be debt free.
