Left work due to disability, have a 403b (a 401k for non-profit groups) holding the majority of my retirement money in 4 Vanguard Index funds.
Have a Roth and an IRA at Vanguard, same funds.
I thought I better get that 403b money out of there because work charges management fees and put it all in the IRA. But someone said sometimes you are better off leaving it in the 403B but I can't remember why. It doesn't seem to make sense to me, in the 403B I'm paying Vanguard's low fees plus the work fees (impossible to ever find out how much these fees are, it's a right to know, our retirement guy has every excuse in the book to keep from telling you, so I would assume they are high), at Vanguard I'd only be paying their small fees.
Does anyone know why it's better to keep funds in a 403B over moving them to Vanguard in an IRA? Also, if I do need to move the funds out of the 403B, would waiting maybe 6 months to do it be that bad? I need to be better before I make major financial moves
