Yeah, Mucinex for my allergies. . .that stuff used to be like $1.00/pill. Sheesh. . .still that much?

    Generic yet?
Mucinex is an example of corruption IMO. Guaifenesin, the active ingredient, was generic for years and dirt cheap. Then suddenly along came Mucinex as the only authorized brand and the generics all went away. Of course, the price skyrocketed.

This has happened with a couple of other products in recent years with the same results.

Kind of random but when we were in Alaska we visited an animal refuge. They had muskox there. In the gift shop they were selling muskox yarn, its called Qiviut. Its supposed to be 6 times warmer than wool. A small bundle of yarn cost $185...and a hat someone sewn, one of those hats thats more decorative, had large holes in it was priced at $500. Not sure if it could even keep you warm.

I see you can buy pure Quiviut yarn online for $110 for a small bundle. Still I couldnt believe what I was seeing.

I know this is an old thread, but I've got one: Digital Photo Frames with WiFi. They're basically tablets (often without touch screens) with a single function. Why in the world do they cost over $100 when low end tablets with similarly sized screens cost way less than $100? Some of the frames have a sensor to turn on when someone enters a room, and some look classy, but that's it for features that tablets don't have.

I thought of getting a few digital photo frames for my daughter's grandparents with the promise that I'd add new pictures to them on a daily or at least weekly basis. But, I can't justify the price tag, even if it is a gift. If it was for my own use, I'd have picked up a few Kindle Fires for $35 on Black Friday and either found or written an app to display pictures. But, I lack the hacking skills to make something user friendly enough to be a good gift.

A few years ago, Nordstrom opened at our local mall. I wandered in there one day just to see what all the fuss was about.

In the men's department, there was a metal rolling rack with long sleeve dress shirts on it. It looked like it had come right out of the stock room. They weren't folded or bagged or anything fancy - just hanging on the rack. I figured they would be the low-end shirts so I took a look. Keep in mind that I buy almost all of my dress shirts at Van Heusen for about $20 each. Imagine my surprise to see these shirts just hanging there and tagged at $225 each.

I'm sure they are of better quality than the ones I buy but I can't imagine anything making them worth 21 times as much. I'd much rather have 21 Van Heusen shirts than one Nordstrom shirt no matter how good the quality is.

Adding a gas fireplace to the basement.

            3k for the fireplace unit
7k for install (framing, drywall, venting, stone, mantle, gas line, and of course labor)

Pushing 10k even when I went elsewhere and said I wanted to do it within my budget (7-8k). Sheesh!

What Disney charges for a character to show up in your Disney wedding. $950/30 mins/character. LoL..I'm sure surgeons make less.

postage- I went to return a small item in a padded envelope. Guaranteed there in 2 days was $32! Not even overnight! Way more than the return. So I'm thinking even the slowest mailing option is gonna be at least $12, luckily sending it by way of Siberia was $4.

good reminder to stop spending and generating returns
