  • How to view other savings for EF

If everything goes to plan, by next March I will have as cash equivalent savings:

    10 months EF
    Car Fund
    Vacation Fund
    College Fund (non 529)

What is interesting as I run my spreadsheet is that in reality, at any given time, I have 24 months of EF, not just 10 (total of the above savings). That is to say, if the crap hit the fan really bad, I have enough cash on hand to live for 24 months, not just 10. I know the new car will have to wait, no vacation and college will need loans, but that is all within my control. This makes me feel more secure.

Just wanted to share. As always, I am very happy to have found this site and appreciative of all the help.

Congratulations, that sounds really great. This site changed my life too. I'm just starting to improve things but at least now I'm pointed in the right direction thanks to the people here.

I don't count college savings as part of our EF. I do lump large purchases (cars, vacations) in with our EF, however.
