  • Banks that accept legitimate Edocuments

    Hello All,
I am struggling to find my answer via google research but banks that offer 24/7 working live chat (yes chat and not email or phone) assist are very rare. Whatever I try to type in google I cannot find the answer. So I decided to research for some forums that could match the topic of my need. Found your forum and would like to ask my question here.
I want to know which bank(s) accept legitimate Edocuments (electronic documents - scans - front sides) as proof of identity to open bank account? If I ask the same query differently: Could anyone please tell me which bank offers 100% online (done via computer and web browser, excluding onetime phone call conversation/verification) procedure of personal opening of new bank account? I need that answer but failed to find it myself. The only step I would accept, which is part of offline procedure, is phone call (either incoming [i receive the call] or outgoing [i call]) verification and NOTHING else. I wouldn't use any cards to be shipped to the physical address, also no shipping of any kind of statements once account is already opened, no shipping of any identification codes, nothing.
Where, in which bank, could I open bank account where is guarantee absolutelly every single step (except potential phone call - I am willing to do only this offline) can be done online - on computer?
Particularly I am interested about USA ones but I would appreciate a lot on nonusa suggestions also. I checked over 100 worldwide ones and so far I always failed - they send at least one code offline (physical letter). Although they guaranteed me I can immediately disable the option of having shipped statements by post letters, this wouldn't be an option to me. Online steps only. Entire procedure online - on computer.

Hopefully someone can help as I am running out of ideas where else could I get some assist - suggestions.

Thank you a billion of times in advance.

There are plenty of internet options like ING, Ally, etc. I'm sure I didn't have to send in any physical documents to open my ING account.

I opened a Citi account from Dubai. My only "verification" was the deposit verification from my other US bank. They deposited two amounts in my "Citi deposit comes from" account (source account). I verified how much the amounts were. Voila! Amount of my opening deposit was pulled from my source account and the Citi account was opened with that amount on deposit.

Wino and what if not using existing bank account?

disneysteve ING does not offer what I am asking.

          Anything else?

I would also suggest ING, but it appears that you've already excluded them from your list.

Can I ask why you want everything to be web based? You seem to have a very strong opinion about this and I'm just curious as to why?

I suggest you contact the bank you wish to use and ask them.

Thank you for your replies, although my question has not yet started to be answered. I am at total zero when it comes to finding the list of such banks. So:

minnie1928: I checked ING (ING Direct) and they seem to require physical documents, not accepting scans. I also messaged them to doublecheck. Same is for Ally (disneysteve suggested it). I got respond from them they require physical ones to be shipped in the letter.

Actually Im mostly (but definitely NOT only!) interested in USA ones under given requirement that I look for but I would also like to see they don't require ssn or tax id number - not having usa nationality. However I assume searching to open account in USA without needing to give out any of those said two numbers is probably illusion. But thats a bit offtopic: My primary question remains about NOT having to send physical documents but legitimate scans instead. Willing to do additional onetime phone call verification for further verification if needed but this should really be only offline step.

minnie1928 web based is because Im not really interested in walking to the branches. I also travel a lot. Don't need any cards because I do only wire transfers, I wouldn't even want to get ssn card if applied for ssn number - just edocument with number instead but thats offtopic.

Petunia 100: What you said is obvious yes but not possible. IF being interested (im not saying I am, neither im saying im not) in houndreds, I would spend months investigating which ones accept Edocuments. Besides this, many of them don't even provide English version of website.

disneysteve: Actually only wire transfers. Thats why I would need everything online and using ebanking app. Not interested about cards/physical statements etc.

So hopefully someone could suggest something. Checked many of them. At least 80% of checked ones don't offer the exact answer regarding what I look for on the FAQ page. I contacted some. Didn't get replies and from the ones I got, the answer was negative

I've had accounts at both ING and Ally and have never mailed in documents. Is the issue that you are outside of the US and/or not a US citizen? If so, that is likely why you are not receiving the answers you are looking for here. Perhaps you should ask around in your local community, where people are more familiar with this issue? Perhaps a local bank could tell you what you want to know, or at least point you in the right direction?

Well, I am resident in USA but just moved for unlimited time - no particular time defined. Don't have nationality, neither SSN Number. However let this don't confuse my primary question: I never said I am looking for USA ones only - USA is only prefered way, I look for worldwide ones. It can be anywhere on the planet. The only requirement I have and what I search for are accepted legitimate scans of original documents - so I search those banks. I probably don't need to say, since its obvious, this same suggested one should offer ebanking application as well as worldwide wire transfers - any country.
Its true I prefer USA one bit if I had to choose from:

A: USA one, requires SSN and/or tax id, accepts scans
B: nonUSA one, accepts scans (SSNs are only for usa)

I would probably choose B one so I don't need to get SSN.
The reason why I came here on this forum is because it came up on google search results when searching with desired keyword. I was looking at your forum for a bit and noticed it matches my topic of issue so thats why I ask here. I don't know on which other forum to ask that is for sure daily active a lot.

Same here. Since OP is not a US citizen, that explains the problem. OP, I don't think any US bank will serve your purpose. Since the enactment of the Patriot Act, banks have required proof of ID to open accounts. You will have to search outside of the US. I have no information to offer regarding that. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck.

What you are asking to do, if it could be done, would allow someone unlimited ability to launder money.

There is no such thing as a "legitimate scanned edocument." I could photoshop anything to look like anything at all.

The answer to your question is "No. There is no bank anywhere who will allow you to do everything solely on computer without verified documentation." And to go further, you cannot open any accounts in the US without either a SSN or a TIN.

Well, there must be few on the planet that accepts edocuments (scans of ORIGINAL ones)?

Or any suggestion about similar discussion board? I was trying to find but the few discussion boards related to such topics that I found aren't active enough - last post made few months ago.

The point being made is that once you copy/scan a document, it is no longer an original and there is no way to know if it has been altered.

Is there some reason why you can't mail in documents? You should be able to do that no matter where you are living, although again, without a SSN or TIN, US banks will not be an option for you anyway.
