Re: Millionaires
My parents. Although my dad died in 1991, I still count them both since it was a team effort.
They were immigrants who worked factory jobs and SAVED like the dickens. I have never lived in a single family home. We lived in a 2 flat and then they bought a 4 flat. They also had a stock portfolio which they bought and held and had the dividends reinvested. My mom never went to the beauty salon. She thought HSN and the like were out to take people's money. They NEVER felt like they had to keep up with the Joneses.
They were very good to me and my brother. Paid for our college educations and more. My mom refinanced her building to finance my bro in business. Now he is a Millionaire. And he works like a dog. I really worry about him and his health (stress).

Re: Millionaires
katwoman kudos to your parents! Now thats an inspiration to me! What smart and wonderful people!
I'm sure that both of my older brothers are millioniares, they worked hard for it and deserve it, they're also raising wonderful children that will be an asset to society.
Cash wise absolutely not with hubby and IBut I believe our land holdings will put us in that catagory in the future and thats just fine with me
We're within a mile of town and land around us is going easily for up to 10,000 an acre, fortunately we're a farm and our taxes reflect that or we'd never be able to foot the yearly tax bill.
We're still building the farm so cash is short day to day, but owning the land (36 acres owned outright, mortgage for 1/3 value of the rest) helps me sleep at night.

Re: Millionaires
I think I am getting there. Working hard and saving is the answer for me. I have no one to inherit from. My house is worth half a million and it is paid for. I don't know if you should count my house or not.

If it's paid for, then yes, you count your house.
