    You're looking at this through an American lens. I looked through other posts and discovered that the OP is Australian. I don't know the Australian culture very well, but maybe in Australia it's not unusual at all to live with your parents into your 20s and 30s.

    My husband is from the UK and he, his brother, and most of his friends lived at home until they were in their late 20s or married, mostly because housing is frightfully expensive there. It's not a bad thing and nothing to be ashamed of -- it's just a cultural difference.

      True. I knew OP wasn't from the US from the vocabulary used, but I still think at 23, he is far too young to be speaking as if he is a failure in life because he doesn't have his "life sorted out." I know nothing about Australian culture, but I suspect it isn't that drastically different than ours. In any country, 23 is pretty young.
