  • Had my male mid-life crisis spend yesterday

Well, I turned 40 this year and I thought I would share what I did for my mid-life crisis.

    You are thinking this:

Was it a sports car? No.
    Was it a motorcycle? No.
    Was it a boat? No.
Was it a young hottie? No.

I got my back waxed (ha, ha. . .you are all welcome for the share ).

I think I am hooked (although first time was painful!!!). Since I shave my head now. . .and haven't spent money on a haircut in years, I think this is a new part of my grooming I am blowing money on every 4-6 weeks. . .it's as as smooth as a baby's bottom back there.

That was something I have been wanting to do for a long time - goodbye back itch!!!

      ::shudder::

I saw the thread title and immediately thought, "OOH! I want to see a picture!", totally expecting a hot new Corvette, Cobra Mustang, or something similar..... but.... ugh..... ::double-shudder::

Well, I figured it was a cheap mid-life thing to do out of vanity (50%) and comfort (50%).

I was the only guy in the salon though, LOL.

LMAO. I'm 44 and have done the head shaving thing for years. My back isn't hairy so no waxing for me.

As for bikes, hotties and sports cars? Us forty somethings can only do so much at once. I think I'm currently in the boat phase...lol.

LOL. . .no you don't want to see a picture. . .at least before and during. . .maybe after, LOL.

Hey, I am not a totally hairy oaf . . .on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being a baby, and 10 being an ape, maybe a 5 or 6, LOL @ myself.

              Awesome

I've noticed that as DH gets older, he grows weird little patches of hair here and there on his back, shoulders, and arms. I'd love to see them go via wax. I'd love to do the job myself

              What did the wife think?

Ouch was it painful? I know we women do it, but I can't imagine men doing it.

My husband is approaching 40 and might actually consider something similar. However, I've heard mention of a truck and a corvette when he returns from deployment. I think he wants both!! Maybe I could get him to trade a wax for one of them! It would be much less expensive.

Was it painful? The shoulder region - on a scale of 1 to 10, maybe a 4. On the kidney area (flank). .. about a 6 or 7 at times, esp. when she pulled from the opposite side.

No, it wasn't as bad as I thought it may be. . .my skin has been irritated and bumpy the days after though.

And yes, that's why I went for this - cheaper than a Corvette.

The wife's away right now so I don't know what she'll think when she gets back. Probably roll her eyes, lol.

Um, wow. Ok. Well, it's certainly cheaper than the usual options. Congrats!

This is just the funniest thing! Funny you did it while wife was gone, too! Once, I refinished the floors while DH was gone, so I guess you and I both removed rugs, eh?

So when does your wife return? I really hope that you come back to us with an update after she finds out.

Also, are you going to get your eyebrows done as well next time?
