I do not like Suze Orman. She has good advice for people who really don't know what they are doing, but I just don't like the way her books are written.

The Tightwad Gazette is a bible for those looking to live a more frugal lifestyle.

I also like The Wealthy Barber.

          * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
          * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?

I second The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey!!! He also has a (free) weekday radio show available online and most am radio markets. Also on Fox Business Network channel weeknights.

I also found GREAT info in a book called Your Money or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence by Robin & Dominquez: Amazon.com: Your Money or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence: Joe Dominguez, Vicki Robin: Books

Dave Ramsey best outlines the HOW of paying off debt better than anyone I have ever heard of. Changed our lives!!!

I third TMM by DR. I just picked it up last week and I'm already done reading it. Now to go through and apply it. Now that my DH has a job, we are ready to go! I have a feeling this book is going to change my life!

Since this got resurrected, I figured I'd throw one in... "The Complete Personal Finance Guidebook", by Jeff Opdyke, published through the Wall Street Journal.

It doesn't have anything earth-shattering, but for someone who just wants to understand the broad spectrum of personal finance and everything that is open to you, I found the book quite educational. A little dry (you get through it), but useful information on alot of stuff I previously was totally lost about.

A Random Walk Down Wallstreet and The Millionaire Next Door. TMND made a big impression on me when I was younger and got me started w/ saving.
