I saw the update on the first couple, a couple months ago. I tried to check the Oprah archives to remember what happened, but the archives is under renovations. If I remember right, I think the family finally had health insurance on the kids and the mom was working on Starbucks. Its a job, which is good. I just think, though, that working there would make it difficult to stop her Starbucks habit.

I can not imagine ever making the choice to keep my kids and myself dressed in the best clothes, have a huge home and nice cars, yet not providing dental and health insruance for my children. Her priorities are (were?) definitely skewed.

Was this the same episode with a lady whose husband abused her and then killed himself in the garage to give her the ultimate "screw over"? They had a ton of debt and *I think* hubby didn't pay bills for a few months before his suicide. It was terrible. I felt so badly for that lady.

Anyway, I saw that first couple and I was sick. I don't know how people can avoid their finances.

No, that was a different episode, but I saw that one, too.

        * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
        * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
        * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

It just isn't a normal thing to do to buy new clothes and then sell them all 2 months later and buy more. Watching your kids' teeth rot away while you are spending thousands on silk flowers just isn't normal. Someone doing that isn't right in the head and needs professional help.
Yeah, the professional help is called a social worker from DIFUS.

It might help a little. When I worked at Starbucks about eight years ago, they treated their employees really well. You got unlimited free drinks while you were working, a pound of coffee or a box of tea every week, and a 30% discount on everything when you were off shift. She might overload on coffee when she's working and not want to stop in there as much off shift.
