Bought a Target gift card on Amazon

One medical survey company I work with pays me in Amazon gift cards. While that sounds like a nice idea, it gets out of hand quickly. In the past year or so, I've earned over $1,000 in Amazon credit. I know Amazon sells virtually everything, but it is just too much of a pain to go looking on Amazon every time I want to buy something. We have managed to spend about $600. We bought holiday gifts last year. I bought filters for our fish tank. We ordered my daughter's hair gel once. And various other things. But all that time, I was continuing to earn more credit. As of today, I had over $400 in credit. So I did some searching and discovered that I can buy Target gift cards from Amazon. They do charge $1.95 shipping, but that's okay considering it is better than buying a bunch of stuff and paying to have it all shipped (if it doesn't qualify for free shipping). So I ordered a $100 gift card and my wife will use it on her regular visits to Target for household stuff like paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, toiletry items, etc. We'll probably end up making that the routine way we redeem all the credit I accumulate.

Sounds like you have found a great way to cash in on those surveys...but would you save shipping if you ordered larger Taget gift card amounts?? ($400 at onces instead of several $100 cards??)

Probably so. I thought of that, but I was hesitant to be carrying around a card worth hundreds of dollars in case it got lost.

You could order a 400 dollar card, then once it arrives have your wife buy many smaller gift cards with it on her next trip to target. This greatly reduces chances of it getting lost and you save around $6 in shipping.

Why can't you order several $50 ones? Usually gift cards are "gifts". If they have an issue, just tell them that they are for gifts.

I have to check and see if postage increases per card or if it is a flat rate.

I already got the $100 card and really didn't mind the $1.95 fee.

When you order the gift cards, the postage charge is per address, not per card. So, conceivably, one could buy four $100 cards, mailed to one address, and the shipping fee would be $1.95. At least, that's how I read it.

I was suprised to find out Amazon sells bulk food items. This would be a good way to buy food in bulk without paying the yearly membership fees to places like Sams and Cosco... Im pretty sure the items qualify for the Amazon free super saver shipping

MelC - I thought about buying food and did search for a number of items. I just didn't come up with something that I wanted in the quantity they sell it, though I honestly didn't look all that hard.
