What are other property taxes like??
The county real estate tax where I live is around 1.09%. A levy has passed so it'll be a little higher next year. Given the ridiculousness of home valuations where I live the percentage seems a more accurate figure.

Florida: $1,762.70 for a 1,651 square foot house. We have a 3% cap but there are those who recently bought into the market that are paying Thousands's for the same thing. We're under the SAVE YOUR HOME plan.

It's too bad that our leaders don't examine taxes in other states to compare what people pay. I'm also in a state where we don't pay a personal income tax and I know that that makes a difference as well.

Almost $9000/year. Northern Illinois, 2500 square foot home, probably worth $400,000.

My taxes doubled last year from $1100 to $2200 this year. We live in a 3200 square foot house with an extra double garage and bonus room on 2 acres on a creek. We live in N. georgia! So, it is still not too bad!! Value is around $500,000!

            Yup - Jersey is bad.

            I pay $8200/year - 4bdr./2.5 bath, 2600 square foot home (not including unfinished basement) on a 80 x 100 lot.

The weird thing is though they take the money but I did get back $1600 on the Property Tax Releif Plan

So, really, I guess my taxes are $6600.

New Jersey property taxes are outrageous, especially for the McMansions being built...easily 15K per year.

And don't even get me started on car insurance rates. I think NJ is near the top of the list on that too.

That was probably me. But in reality, we got back about $1,600 or so. Which would mean we really paid $5,600. But then again, the property tax rebate could go away next year, so we can't count on that.

The "funny" thing is that some of the folks that I work with pay over $10k/yr for property taxes (well, OK school/property/municipal taxes all added into one).

I'm in PA and pay $4800 on a 250k 2100 sq ft house. We also have a personal income tax that goes to the municipality and is 0.5% of income.

I must live near moneybags. North Chicago suburbs, about 4500 on a 230000 townhouse.
