Tug of War: Rationality vs. Regret - New York Times

I enjoy reading her writing because she's so real. But I'm really starting to question her brain power? I can't believe she knows she writes for her audience (there is also a Women In Red Message board I read), and yet she does stupid things.

She bought a house I question whether she can really afford it.

    Ugh. That was distateful.

It basically read like she was using her column to rationalize a very bad decision.

She sounds like every debt-ridden person I know who feels the need to explain for 20 minutes why they really needed that new luxury SUV. It's irritating enough in real life, but even more disappointing in someone who sells themself as some kind of authority on financial matters.

It's just a house for crying out loud. I'm sure they would have gotten over it. And, hello! They already had a house, even if the upstairs isn't quite to their taste. Many people would be very grateful for any house at all. Holy sense of entitlement--they need a "proper" home, and who cares if they can't afford it!

    Yuck.

I haven't read this financial author stuff before but huh? What is she thinking? Did she need that house, no she had a case of I want it I want it.

It did leave a bad taste in my mouth

What's even worse is in her message board Women In Red, people actually backed her up! I was the only one who didn't.
