Snaffu, I was not insulted, maybe sad, lol, but I was to distraut to feel much. Thank God my husband found a friend who lended him $200 to take care of the electric bill, we were able to get power back on friday night. We are still out on water, but we are doing OK, we find some clever ways to do without, like buying by the gallon . We found out that the company my husband worked for owed him some money, so we should be getting a check today or tomorrow. I am still looking for a job and I hope we'll get back on tract soon.

Thank you all for your concerns, Pray for me that I get a job, it would be great if I could find something to do from home, but at this point anything will do.

Vella Florida is a tough place to get a job. From the statistics we read, the situation in Florida will get worse before it gets better. The most important thing you can do is to re-examine your skill sets and see how they could fit alternate sectors. Our system [W. Canada] is quite different but we encourage people to up-grade their skills during difficult employment environments.

One of the few sectors that is strong is health & wellness for example care of seniors. There is also strength in the not-for-profit industry [NFP] in Fl.

If i were in dire financial straits, i would not hesitate to get a job at a fast food restaurant, or at any of the stores during the holiday season when they hire extra people. These are the kinds of places that don't require prior experience.

I agree, Fern, though with 4 kids, you might be better off financially not working at McDonalds--I bet the daycare would cost more than you'd make. Unless you could have flexible hours and have the husband watch the kids.
