    New Hampshire man had no car and no furniture, but died with a big secret, leaving his town millions

    $3.8M, to be precise. And nobody guessed he was remotely wealthy. IMO, it's a bit unfortunate really -- it's a truly kind & generous gesture, but he lived a pauper's life. There is something to be said for enjoying your wealth (within reason).

    I saw that article. I don’t think it’s unfortunate at all as long as he was happy, and it sounds like he was. Not everyone wants a fancy car or a big house or exotic vacations. He probably got a lot of pleasure from knowing how much his bequest would help people after he was gone.
