I read about that a while ago. One of those unintended consequences. It's also the proliferation of people driving monster SUVs when they used to drive normal cars.

Widespread adoption of EVs will require a lot of infrastructure changes to parking lots, service stations, homes, and workplaces too. People will need to have easy access to charging wherever they go just as we now have gas stations on every corner and at every exit of the highway.

Perhaps some of these garages will re-draw the lines to spread out the weight. That might not be a bad thing considering it feels like one needs to bring a can opener to park in a modern parking garage. A little more space would be nice.
