Median net worth in the US excluding home equity is only about $18,000. And that INCLUDES retirement. Some people find this surprising, expecting it to actually be negative. What do you think?

I didn't go to the site you are promoting but I did find this article from The Motley Fool:
That does show that when you subtract home equity, most people are worth very little. The highest net worth on that chart is just over $45,000.
That's really pathetic. The median income is $50,000 and yet no age group has that much as non-home equity net worth. Very sad and disturbing for the future of this country.Steve

It doesn't count people who rely on pensions though so there is a lot of discrepancy. My mom retired with less than $200k in her 401k but she had a pension paying 70% of income at 55, free medical for life, and a couple of paid for homes.Comment

Good point! Pensions are important, but unfortunately, they occupy an increasingly small share of the U.S. population.
