I wonder how many people truly don’t keep enough in the house to get by for 2-3 weeks if necessary. We could live just fine without leaving the house.

and the whole bottled water thing is a disgrace. It’s an awful purchase under normal conditions. Why hoard it now? This isn’t a hurricane or blackout where the faucets will stop working or the tap water will be contaminated. If you need water you’ll still be able to turn on the tap and get it same as always.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

We used to have a decent overstock of food (&toilet paper) in the house, but we downsized and were only buying what we needed for a short period.

I can appreciate that, but I find it hard to believe that that applies to too many of the people who stood in 1-2 hour long lines to get into Costcos and supermarkets today. Most of that really seems to be panic-buying.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that most of these people are running up credit cards in order to buy groceries that are most likely double the bill of what they would normally go shopping for.

Folks are also stocking up in our area--with spot shortages. DH tried to buy some hamburger for 2 days in a row and there was none to be had. The second day there was no chicken, either. Another store was completely out of frozen food--like bare shelves. Our store was also out of my favorite brand of oatmeal.

I hope they are not out of corned beef! We wanted to get some for when our DS visits next weekend. We didn't want to buy it too far in advance (that might have been a mistake. )

I hear our local Walmart is about sold out of toilet paper, cleaners, sanitizers and a few other things.
Was in a small local grocery friday and they had everything, as did the neighborhood Dollar General.

So long as the electricity keeps working we could go a long time with what we have in stock.

Well, we got our corned beef and cabbage (saints be preserved!) Still no hamburger, but chicken is back on the shelf. It's just as well, I forgot what I was going to make with the hamburger...

I'm planning to go to the grocery store tomorrow because we're having a pot luck lunch at work on Tuesday. We'll see if I'm able to get what I want (ground turkey).

There are only 4 of us. No more dangerous than eating at home with our families.

We can't find any fresh garlic cloves anywhere, WTH! DH did get our corned beef on Sat and finally got some potatoes today, we are set for our St. Patty's Day Dinner. Oh got the cabbage last week.

I don't plan to go to the store this week at all we have enough of everything!

                          I have the same problem.
I had to used minced garlic from a jar over the weekend.
