Big deal ..... might save a few people from having heart attacks from eating that junk.

This whole gripe about minimum wage being raised is disturbing. Nobody that buys products or services from these places wants to pay more.

Minimum wage jobs such as these and dozens of others were never intended to be "careers". These jobs are low skill, minimal training, entry level work and were meant for kids to get a little experience in the workforce and earn a few bucks, and for adults looking for some part time work to pick up a little side income.

Maybe if you're stuck in one of these jobs, you ought to think about learning some skills to command a higher wage in a different line of work?

I read that claim quite a bit lately. I don't think we can say fast food jobs are meant for kids to get experience (or for adults to have side income). They are meant to help make a profit for the business. It seems to me that chain fast food shops, whether corporately owned or franchised, are among the most likely to succeed businesses, not particularly risky. They do make profit. Their employees are as much entitled to ask for more pay as anyone else is.

Sincerely, I think that when I worked in fast food in the 1970's my wages went further toward basic expenses like housing, food, hygiene items, and utilities. I believe those who have presented figures that show that minimum wage has lost ground over the decades.

You are right ..... these employees are as entitled to ask for more pay, just the same as anyone in any other job. And, I'm sure those employers do give plenty of raises above and beyond minimum wage for those that show initiative, take on more responsibility, work harder, are highly reliable, present a good image, etc.

What is wrong is the government stepping in and telling those employers that they must raise their wages for folks that may, or may not be the best of employees and are doing very low skilled, low responsibility jobs.
