• Is Your Freezer Saving You Money?

I will not buy meats, cheeses, breads, lunchmeats, spices or any frozen foods unless they are on sale. Yet at home I always have a full selection of all of those . What makes that possible is my freezer. I have detailed how that works for me in the blog post linked below.

    Freezer Frugality:
I buy most of my food on sale. In fact, I will not buy meats, cheeses, breads, lunchmeats, spices or any frozen foods unless they are on sale.

How about you? Are you taking advantage of the money-saving potential of a freezer?

We have no room for an additional freezer here. I do stock up on meat, including lunchmeat, when the price is right. I don't like how cheese and bread are after they thaw. I also freeze extra coconut milk since of only comes in one size can and I only use 1/4 cup at a time. It thaws out fine.

      Hamchan...

An upright freezer (shaped like a small refrigerator) does not take more than 4 square feet of floor space. That is not much, my friend.

We have a large upright and a small chest freezer. I also dont buy those things unless they are on sale. We have a large garden, fruit and berry trees and hunters in the family. It does save a lot of money.

I can't think of a place where we have 4 sq feet to spare. We have 2 adults, one teenager, and two cats in 600 sq. feet of apartment. Plus we have all these huge radiators in inconvenient places.

And I suppose no biggish closets, either.

I've been trying to think of solutions I might offer and I can only come up with ideas like substituting a locker-style freezer for the TV stand/table. Not the best idea. Maybe a refrigerator with a larger freezer compartment? Or using what freezer space you do have to store "maximum value" freezable foods?

It's a shame if "freezer frugality" is an option just not open to you.

Well, there is one closet, but my daughter lives in it. Lol. But despite only having the apartment size freezer we have, we are able to save quite a bit by buying meat on markdowns and freezing it. It takes us a while to get through a freezer full.

Same I don't have a place for a freezer. Depends on layout and size of house.

I know a couple that situated their freezer on their back porch because they had no room inside. But they did have a house. It is true that sometimes "you cannot get there from here."

                  Good luck, all.

Unless it'll be covered by snow I have a side uncovered deck and parking spots! No back porch or even a basement that's mine.
