That's right. I was just pointing out that buying USO is a very short-term deal and isn't intended to be a long-term commodities investment. It's an instrument that active oil buyers and sellers use to cover their hineys. If an investor wanted a longer term play in commodities but would rather have exposure through equities, there are a lot of good options. First of course are the ETFs and mutual funds. As for individual stocks, you could buy mining, refining, agricultural, and timber-related issues. Lots of good companies from which to choose!

Lots of folks around here wheel and deal agricultural commodities. The ones that are most successful are those with experience in the AG sector and have followed these things daily, for years.
Just like the stock market, you can get in trouble if you don't know what you are doing and big windfalls are never a given.
