Most of those millions did not have coverage because they chose not to. While I think that is asinine, we have reached a whole new level of government intrusion when the gubmit says we MUST buy something that they deem necessary - and it must be THEIR gold, silver, or bronze plans, with benefit plans THEY decide.

My gosh what has this country come to, to allow that? Astounding really.

It makes me sad when conservatives who are forced by the government (I get conflicting evidence of whether Texas requires it) to buy insurance before they can drive turn around and whine, bitch and moan about how horrible it is that the government forces them to but insurance.

Poor analogy. Requirement of a minimum level of liability insurance, offered by dozens of insurers, is a different animal than an expensive, complex heath insurance policy offered by one or two carriers in many markets, with mandated benefits, deductibles, and maximum out of pocket amounts.

Question...for obamacare...lets say someone is 60 years old and wants to retire. Is money drawn from their 401k considered income? If its not considered income thats good news for anyone wanting to retire early (like 50's). Your insurance through obama would be dirt cheap if you're using money from savings/index funds...guess your salary would be considered $0?

I would assume distributions from retirement accounts count as income. My mother is on Medicare but she does get certain senior assistance and her IRA distributions count as income.
