  • New Ally Credit Card

I've been a huge fan of Ally ever since I opened my account. Their website rocks, the app is decent, they support Apple Pay and e-check deposits. Just found out they have a new cash back card thru TD. I instantly applied and got accepted. I will now have three CCs. I still have 0% intro on the other two but I applied just to get the free $$$. (Spend $500, get $100).

"The Visa Signature card offers above average rewards. It pays 2% cash back on purchases at gas stations and grocery stores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. There are no spending caps on these rewards. Ally also adds a 10% bonus when a consumer has the rewards deposited into an eligible Ally bank account.

The card also offers a $100 bonus when you make $500 in eligible purchases during the first 3 billing cycles. It comes with a 0% introductory APR on balance transfers for 12 billing cycles (the 0% offer does not apply to purchases). The card works with Apply Pay and Samsung Pay, and there is no annual fee."

Eight is enough for us (not even counting a JC Penney store card)...

Thanks! I will probably pursue that bonus. I just love free money.

Just remember that your time has a cost too, in remembering which cards to use, logging in to multiple sites, etc. (Along the same line as not taking an hour to drive across the city and back just to save 10 cents/gal on gas.)

I can pay my monthly electric bill twice with this card instead of my regular one. (It is $252 per month on balanced bill pay). That will take an extra 2 minutes one time (to input the new credit card number). The electric company website will save the info, so I will only need to do this once.

When I pay my bills from my bank's website, I will again have to take 2 minutes to input the new card info. Address too, so we will say 3 minutes. (Again, just once because the site will save the info).

Credit card rewards are tax free.

In order to earn $100 after taxes in 5 minutes, I would have to earn what, about $1,800 an hour? I don't earn anywhere near that. (Except when I am racking up credit card bonuses).

Using multiple cards dilutes the spending per card, thus extending the time when they can be redeemed for cash. (I like to do it every month, but obviously that's a personal preference.)

Fortunately, Chase allows "point combining". Doing that with having all the cards due on the same date means we get the money back faster.

Sure. I am willing to do that in order to earn the bonus.

I just signed up for mine too. That's possibly the easiest 100 bucks I have ever made.
