  • Is buying gold on Amazon safe?

I have some amazon credit to burn and wanted to buy gold. Is it safe to buy from here?
Also, the price is about $100 more than APMEX's site. Think that's too much?

    Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for your reply 97guns. I have about $2300 credit so I was thinking about buying 2 of these coins (paying out of pocket around $600). I know Amazon is great but I just feel weird having that much credit sitting with them.

Is there nothing else you could buy that you may need and can use? Amazon sells a wide variety of things...some are cheaper than buying local...others not.

We shop on Amazon a lot but only little things here and there. If the balance was only $100 or so I would just leave it but I feel uncomfortable having over $2000 in credit.

Yup, it's cheaper on the other sites but I'm thinking of paying the extra just to get rid of the Amazon credit.

Don't waste 11.9% just to get rid of some Amazon credit. Find someone in the family or a friend that needs something and buy it for them and get cash from them.

My advice is that pissing away $100 for no valid reason is s-t-u-p-i-d.

Check APMEX first. Those Amazon prices for a 2015 1 oz American Eagle are kindof high. APMEX is $1342 (credit card price) and Amazon is $1417. APMEX prices change throughout the day as gold prices change. I suspect the Amazon price does not but I'm not sure about that.

On Ebay a precious metals dealer is selling 1 oz gold bullion bars in assay card for $3 above spot price. Today the spot price of gold is $1174. The 1 oz gold bullion is selling for $1177 ($3 above spot price) and includes free shipping. A reputable dealer such as APMEX is selling 1 oz gold bullion for $1211. I'm tempted to buy from Ebay but afraid of it being fake. Does anyone have any experience dealing with this seller. The more I think about it the more I would rather pay an extra $35 and go with a reputable dealer such as APMEX.
