  • Back-end load strategy

I'm FINALLY getting around to closing a brokerage account with high fees and expenses. I, of course, have a fund with a back end load, currently 3%. I stand to lose about %365 if I sell all shares now. It is in a taxable account. The ER is high, 1.86%, so I would pay about $225 over the next year at the current value.

Should I just cut my losses and chalk it up to a lesson learned? It isn't a lot of money I'd be out, but I hate to lose it. Load goes down to 2% in October, then 0% in a few years.

I'm also not currently contributing to this account and I have to wonder if this is the only fund I have open with them, they might just cut me loose themselves.

    Appreciate any thoughts.

Personally, I would get out of it. You will not come out ahead waiting to avoid the back end load, as the expense ratio is so high. In the future, choose low-cost investments.
