It's easy to blame the crash, but the dow should have never been at 14k in 2007. It wasn't a crash but a bubble. If I hadn't been paying a 40% premium on my mutual fund shares I wouldn't be ticked at the current prices.

Well said! That's what I've argued for some time as well.

Passive investments though, I have changed nothing in my allocations, and therefore have taken the hits in my portfolio like everyone else.

Active trading, I was extremely paranoid, and did quick ninja trades. Last year went well, but this year, I'm trying to slow it down more towards buy-and-hold. Mostly because of the changes in my personal life more than anything. But I'll still fast trade in a heartbeat if I think that's what I think is best at any given time....

This is really a nervous market we are experiencing. I am still very positive with the idea of buy and hold but this is becoming too stressful to a lot of us and I will be taking it easy in the next 3 months. Especially being tax season.

We haven't reached "despair" level yet and I don't think it's going to turn for the better for quite a while. I'll keep buying.

            Forget 7300. Forget 7200. We're going DOWN.

If we do go down it will be an exciting opportunity to start anew in a brand new world. How's that for positive thinking?

I'm actually surprised by how well the US economy has held up so far. Its pretty bad here but its alot worse in some other countries.

Good point. I think Americans tend to be relatively uninformed about what is happening in the rest of the world (I'm guilty of that myself much of the time) but from all I read, many other countries are going through the exact same stuff - cutting interest rates, bailing out banks and automakers, paying consumers incentives for buying new cars and doing various other things to stimulate their economies.

We live in a global economy, moreso than ever before. What happens here affects other countries. What happens in other countries affects us.
