Sorry, I did not mean to knock Florida. I lived there for 32 years and I hated it. I hate the heat and all the crime there. Just give me the mountains of North Georgia or North Carolina, and I am happy!

Disneysteve, do you plan on retiring down there? I ask because my SIL's parents are from MD/VA area and they bought years ago and used it as a second home in preperation of retiring there. So they RV up MD/VA for 3-5 months (the summer time), and they live in their condo the rest of the year. And my SIL/Brother go and use it when they feel like. They said their family just loves it out there.

I don't know if it made financial sense really, but I get sort of why they did it. They just like the area I guess. So whether it made financial sense is a different story because they were happy.

That's a diffferent situation and isn't a bad idea at all. I know a number of people who did that (or still do) and eventually settled at the Florida home full-time. They didn't purchase the Florida place as an investment property.

Well, we got it for this past week, and that was our 3rd year doing so. I haven't gone any other time of year for quite a while so I don't know.

Certainly, Christmas week, spring break time and other holiday weeks will be higher, if available at all.
