Yes, I looked at it earlier this morning too, and it's currently 5.5% across the board.

If you have an account number and a routing number, I don't see why not. I set up HSBC as my linked account; I'm not sure why linking with ED would be different.

Ah yes, that's a problem. You can change your linked account if you want. But you can only do it 4 times a year, or something like that.

              Re: E-loan savings

My HSBC transfer finally posted to my checking account last night. So, that was about 5 or 6 calendar days. That's tortoise like in comparison to my other online accounts.

I'll post how the transfer of those funds to E-Loan works out. I'm betting 2 business days maximum for it to clear my checking account.

                Re: E-loan savings

I opened our account on Wed. 10/04 (?) and did not hear anything from them until this past Tues. It was a very long week waiting to make sure I filled all of the info. correctly. This is the first account we've had that was through an online bank, so I was a bit concerned that it took so long to hear from them-it seems so of you hear back within 2-3 days. Anyway, what I found interesting is that the money transferred out of my account and in to the e-loan account had the same date-so it seems I may not have lost any interest, though the rate in my bank is virtually nothing. Hopefully, all transfers will be made quickly, and with minimal loss of interest. Thanks to those of you who offered advice and encouragement. I really appreciate your help.

Congrats, Dixie. Yes, E-LOAN is a little different in that there is no snail mail involved. As soon as you sign up, you can log in to your account. Statements arrive online as well. You may want to print them occasionally just so you have paper records in your files.

I too have been satisfied with the transfer speeds. Seems like about 1 business day.

                    Re: E-loan savings

I made a large withdraw from e-loan early yesterday.

Hey, I'm sorry, but I got paranoid.

Well, it looks like it it only takes 1 business day to get it transferred! (And another business day to get that amount posted online for my checking account.)

Terrific! I'm going to put that amount back tomorrow.

It looks like my transfer to E-Loan was credited to my account next business day and debited from my checking account within 1-2 business days. Me likey.

                        Re: E-loan savings

I contacted E-loan about the $5000 minimum and they do intend to make that a req for the 5.50% APY in the future with no timetable set as yet. So my account with them may be short lived. It appears my starting balance is actually a loan for the amount I specified as an initial deposit as the transaction appears as a debit but the money's still in the savings account I gave them to draw from. (maybe I'll get double interest for a few days ).

My attempted linking of E-loan to my Amboy Direct account failed. I guess HSBC worked because they let you do ATM withdrawals and are rigged up to accept that kind of thing. So ED probably wouldn't work either.

Wyett, do you have an update? Did you try to link your account with ED? Also what happened when you tried linking with Amboy -- was there an error message?

My link to Amboy just didn't work. E-loan had credited me with my initial deposit but the next day they backed it out with a debit leaving my funds in Amboy. The $0 balance account is still sitting there waiting to be verified; I guess it will dissapear as an unverified account when the 30 days are up. I transferred the Amboy funds to linked checking and created a 2nd E-loan account from there. Funds transfered over and verification deposits made today (next business day). I'll see if the next deposit I made goes thru as quickly.

Again I think the savings accounts E-loan can link to are the Money Market Savings Accounts that only let you (used to be) write 3 checks and do 3 OTC withdrawals (now 6 debit card withdrawals). I don't recall ED offering a debit card on their account, I don't have one anyway, so I didn't bother trying. I didn't like HSBC's account, following in ING's footsteps there are too many hoops to jump thru to access your money , and they weren't even done with their security enhancements.

E-loan deposit #2 came in the next day too however the transaction details still took until the day after that to display as a credit. The same everywhere else?
