So Currently, you can't claim normal insurance premiums for HSA withdrawal. Only Medicare, long-term and Cobra premiums. I'll be retiring early in 6 years. I wonder if that will ever change? It would be nice to be able to claim normal insurance premiums.

I am using my HSA account as and extra savings account and not withdrawing anything. I am saving my receipts though.

There are currently three bills being put forth that would allow HSA funds to pay for health insurance premiums. I hope this passes before I retire. I recently ran the numbers, and within five years, my HSA balance will hit $100,000. If this legislation goes through, the investment earnings alone could cover a significant portion of my monthly premiums.

I only have 40k now but I plan to max it out till 6 months before I am on Medicare. I am 50 now and retire in 5 years. So all in all I'll have about 15 more years of contributions.
