I have a collection of hummels. One is very rare,made in the 40's. I can't even get an offer on it!! I would love to sell my hummels and just get my money back! I wish I had not collected so much stuff!!
Really? Here is a 40s Hummel that sells for $4,000.
A few thoughts...if your daughter wears it, it likely will not remain collectible. Mint condition and preschoolers don't go together
Being able to cover the cost of it does NOT mean that you can AFFORD it. Think, if you sold them all and used 10% of the money to buy your girl things she can use, and love playing in without mommy fretting...and then put the other 90% into a savings account or college fund...which is in HER best interest?
We all have collectibles, and special treats. But, when you are balancing finances, it's time to ask yourself WHY. How much pleasure is it giving you? $300 worth? Do you look at it every day, does it always make you happy...and can you do without the money/food/other necessities? If you love it and can AFFORD it, not just cover the costs, then enjoy!
