  • Common Items that you choose to live without

Whether for frugality or simplicity, are there any common items that you choose to pass on?
Here are the most common answers from an online survey:

    TV
    Automobile
    Subscription Services
    Makeup
    Coffee Maker
    Microwave
    Smart Phone
    Toaster

I'm not a fan of all the unnecessary kitchen gadgetry.
My spouse wanted them so we've got them, but I could do without a dish washer and a microwave and be fine.

All this stuff like; salad spinners, food processors, measuring cups of all sizes, rubber hot pads, vegetable choppers, coffee grinders, pepper grinders, etc. seem unnecessary.

I've never had cable TV, and happier for it. The TV itself is rarely used, except for when we play a movie (2-3x/mo). We don't drink coffee, so I guess the coffee maker & it's accoutrements are not missed.

I dunno .... We (Americans) have a generally very comfortable existence, especially when compared to the rest of the world. I expect there's alot of niceties & conveniences that we could easily do without.

I haven't had cable TV in over 20 years.

I'll binge watch some series on Netflix for a couple of weeks, then I might not turn the TV on for another month.

I've always hand washed and dried my dishes. I've been in my house for 20 years, and the instructions are still hanging inside the dishwasher that came new with the house.

Also haven't had cable TV for something like twenty years. Also gave my TV away several years ago. Sold my car a couple months ago - no plans to buy another.
