Some points I agree with, some I'm meh about. Either way, some of the things said here are pretty harsh and it needs to be.

Wish it would have come in article form instead of a 15 minute video. Feel like the only good ones were 1, 12 and 13. Why does your commute time or shopping at dollar general define your wealth? Feel like #10 could have been worded differently - really doesn't have to do with your house smelling funny, just living in a low quality neighborhood, which may or may not reflect someone's wealth depending on whether they have to live there or they choose to. Same with driving a 10 year old car - is it a have to or a choice to? 14 is certainly illegal but I don't see the relevance.

I hate YouTube, videos such a time suck..... Such a poor way to get information across. Would anyone be willing to list out what it says? (Yes, I'm a bit lazy as well)

A lot of it doesn't relate to me, being that I'm retired and don't have any kids.

I started to get annoyed when they poo-pooed buying things on sale with coupons. When they started talking about not wearing clean underwear and socks every day, I had to turn it off!

I don't see what that has to do with anything. OK, maybe some people run short of money for the laundromat. But there are also people who just don't have a good routine for getting laundry done.

I did not watch the video, but for pure entertainment value I slid the bar across to read the headers.

What I would really like to know is who is ALux, what makes them qualified to make these pronouncements, and what is their methodology? Anyway ... here you go ...

            15 Signs You Are Poor:
            1. If you stopped working you couldn't maintain your lifestyle for more than 3 months
            2. It takes you more than 1 hour to get to work

            6. You had to say no to your kid when he wanted an average priced toy
            7. You're scared that your life will affect your kids chances of sucess
            8. You don't have clean underwear and socks every day
            9. You have an addiction
            10. Your house smells funny
            11. Your car is 10+ years old
            12. You expect the government to take care of you after you retire
            13. You spend money before you get it
            14. You steal wi-fi, electricity, cable, or use torrents for movies and music
            15. You don't have a loving family

            15 Signs You Are Rich:
            1. If you were to stop working, you could go more than 1 year
            2. You think that earning 1 million per year isn't a lot of money
            3. You don't feel stuck
            4. You're confident you could start over and things would work out
            5. You aren't motivated by money alone
            6. You appreciate food for both the taste and nutritional value*
            7. You don't look at how much the food costs when you go to a restaurant
            8. You don't feel the need to show off your wealth
            9. You understand art & why it costs so much
            10. You actually understand taxes and how to optimize them
            11. You have a mentor
            12. You have multiple streams of income
            13. You never worry about bills
            14. Your business still keep you up at night
            15. You are happy

My score: 2 signs I'm poor and 8 signs I'm rich (I thought it was 9 but I don't think #6 applies to me the way "ALux" means it).

*OK, I watched this segment because I didn't understand. The words I typed don't explain adequately. It's not referencing something like paying attention to seasonality of produce to buy at peak flavor and great price. Or appreciating a simple, nutritious and delicious meal at home. It's more about being willing to pay big bucks to go to high-end restaurants ... Apparently without using a coupon

Don't ask me to defend these. I'm just the typist.

scfr, thanks for taking the time to write those out.

While I will agree with a few of those points, reading through most of them gives me the distinct impression that the author is somewhere in the middle, looking up with starry eyes at the wealthy & down his nose at the poor. In short, he's an arrogant ignoramus who doesn't know what he's talking about. Clearly he buys into alot of the stereotypes of both the poor & the wealthy, when in fact many of both types are completely false. This is exactly the kind of information that leads to people thinking they can never succeed. So tragic.

Bunch of hogwash. I grew up poor, but distinctly remember wearing clean underwear and socks daily although my dress would be worn twice before washing (yes I went to school when girls were NOT allowed to wear pants until I was in 9th grade). In junior high, I had gym class daily which involved changing clothes into gym clothes and then the shower and back to regular clothes. I, though poor also had clean clothes. One of the girls from class wore the same bra every day and it was so grungy it looked like it had mold growing on it! I assume she was super poor.

If you compare his lists with the info in the Millionaire Next Door, many of those 'poor' things are what the millionaires did to make their millions and they weren't about to turn around and then waste that hard saved money by not paying attention to what things cost.

I just looked at those lists again and realized that I have more yeses for the rich stuff than the poor ones. Guess I'm rich!

I am rich in the things that count that is for sure.
